Imbi Palace Restaurant @ Jalan Imbi KL

Saturday, November 8, 2008

Imbi Palace is located where the old Tai Thong used to be and following the tradition of good food served on those premises, if you looking to try Chinese Fine Dining or Dim Sum, Imbi Palace will not disappoint you.

Ambience-wise, warm earth tones, polished wood accents and understated Chinese décor reign supreme. The restaurant also has nine well-appointed private dining rooms. Imbi Palace Restaurant became the first Chinese restaurant to receive the fine dining award from French association Chaine des Rotisseurs.

Sometimes it's the small things that make dining at a place enjoyable and their appetizers are certainly one of those things. They offer deep fried egg plant cover with chicken floss rather than the ubiquitous nuts or crackers served at most other places.
As for the shark fin soup, it’s a little different from the usual shark fin soup that you tasted. This one tasted very luxurious (if that makes any sense, overall good). The flesh of the suckling pig is pale and tender and the skin is crispy (OMG, oh so tasty).
Next, the cod fish is well steam with ginger and chilies which brings out the sweet flavor of it (Good). Of course, diners can indulge in more palatial treats like Stir-fried Prawn (So so saja), claypot chicken - its firm yet slightly springy and flesh tasted (Oklar) and the Puréed Broccoli with mushroom and braised duck feet was refreshing to round off the dining experience.
Lastly, the dessert is the mango sago; it was nice, cold and delicious.
Overall, these simple yet elegant, homey delights with their hearty, uncomplicated flavors really hit the spot when eaten.

I love this place. If you have family or friend gathering and opted for Chinese menu, this place is a good choice. They have private rooms with Karaoke installed. The food is delicious. Really worth the price and distance (from PJ).
