In Plaza Damas, you bound to find some interesting restaurants, namely La Yosh Japanese Western. This restaurant serves or claimed to serves Japanese and Western Cuisine or both (Fusion). The decor has a very warm and modern feel, whilst maintaining a Japanese style to it all. Besides, the ambience offers a relaxing eating experience (patrons can opt to seat at outdoor tables).

Back to the food, basically from their menu, they have some quite attractive dishes such as pasta with salmon/unaki, steaks using Japanese sauces and spices, salmon teriyaki don, fried rice and etc. In addition, they also serve Seafood Chowder Soup which is not that yummy and portion wise is small.

Furthermore, the Omu Curry Rice (Omelet Curry Fried Rice) is quite normal and do not find this dish unique. However, the fried rice is not bad & fragrant and flavor blends well.

On the whole, this restaurant is unusual in KL but serve pretty good comfort food and pricy wise is average.

Dear Michael,

Thanks for coming over to our restaurant. I'm glad that you've enjoyed our ambience.

However, as the owner of La Yosh, I felt that your rating for our food was unduly harsh, given that you've only tried 2 dishes!

Excuses aside, we would like to invite you back to try some of our other dishes, and perhaps discuss about how we can make things better over a couple of beers?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear Ryan,

Thanks for the comment. We could have never imagine an owner visiting this very little food critic blog. Its a pleasure, knowing someone like your goodself taking considerations in our reviews, and by this i meant in a good manner. Micheal and I both agreed that in due time we shall return to have another try.

Regards,
Mart

Having lived in the US for the last 14 years and spent 9 years in Boston, I must say that Layosh (here in KL!) has one of the best Japanese fusion available at an extremely reasonable price.

Unlike commercial places, you can really feel the passion in the dishes when you taste it. I'm a sucker for chefs who have a passion for their food and especially when they own the place - its their only key to survival when they're that vested in it. That was my first impression when I first went there - I had squid ink pasta and it was good. I've been there a couple of times and was there again tonight - I do love the food there - its tasty and not overwhelming.
