Recently, there are a number of new restaurants opened in 1 Utama (located at the now defunct Giant, lower ground) and this Otak Otak Place just started operation about early December. The décor of the restaurant gives patrons a 1990s feel and once seated, you can find games on each table (can entertain while waiting for food) which you used to play during the 80s and 90s. Games like "Happy Family" card game, snakes & ladders board game and chess/checkers.

What’s funny is their choice of menu, their waiter look like primary school teachers and hand patrons an exercise book a.k.a menu. Nowadays, these new restaurants come out all these funny ideas, but quite refreshing.
P1010013
Their selling point has an extensive range of delicious otak-otak prepared and served in many different ways such as Otak Otak Fish Cake, Cucur Otak Otak, Otak Otak dumpling, Otak Otak Stick, Nasi Lemak with Otak Otak, Otak Otak Roll, Otak Otak Devil Chicken with Rice or Noodle, Grilled Otak Otak Burger, Otak Otak Meatball, Otak Otak Pao (Bun) and the list go on and on………...
P1010015
Of course, their main Otak Otak Specialty is Steamed Otak Otak. Overall, their Otak Otak is creamy and the texture is springy. So far it’s above par.

Besides Otak Otak, they do serve other Malaysian dishes, like their Nasi Lemak with Chicken Rendang. Unlike others, they use this70s two-tier stainless steel container replacing the conventional plate to serve the dish. As for the food, the chicken rendang is aroma but nothing out of the ordinary (normal lar). Portion wise is small but the rice is fragrant, cooked together with coconut milk, ginger and onion.

Also, they got Mee Rebus Stulang. First, the dish is steaming hot. Secondly, the dish is very spicy and lastly, the sauce is very thick, something like the rojak sauce. Basically, it’s just average.

So if you love Otak Otak, and believe that you don’t find many places in KL/PJ that serve so many dishes of Otak Otak, then this is the place for you to try.
