Syed Abu Restaurant @ Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya

Monday, January 5, 2009

A mamak stall is a type of food establishment which serves mamak food. In Malaysia, the term “mamak” refers to Indian Muslims, who generally own and operate them. Most mamak traditionally operated from roadside stalls, but now, some modern mamak stall operators have expanded their businesses into restaurant or cafe-type establishments. Mamak stalls tend to be popular among Malaysian youths as hang out spots, due to cheap food and beverages being served as well as being open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The mamak stall has been etched permanently into Malaysian culture, much in part because of its ubiquitous nature. The mamak stall is very much a symbol of multiracial harmony. People of all races, religions and ages frequent mamak stalls to gossip or catch a late-night football game while enjoying a cup of hot teh tarik/teh ice.

Syed Abu Restaurant is quite a well established Mamak for years in Damansara Jaya. Many people come here for the usual stuff offers in Mamak, teh tarik, Milo, Kopi, Nescafe & etc. Also, they have different varieties of roti canai, varieties of rice, such as nasi lemak and nasi goreng (fried rice), as well as noodle dishes such as mee goreng (fried noodles).

However, there is a rumor circulating around the web that a patron ordered a nasi lemak from Syed Abu and found a cockroach in the sambal/chili paste. It was quite a big fuss. Since then, many patrons are quite worrying about the cleanliness of the restaurant, yet many patrons still visiting the restaurant. Weird……

Hye,
why would a Muslim restaurant sell ham? You know what,We,Muslims won't even imagine selling ham in the Muslim store. What the prove of selling ham at Restoran Syed Abu?
That plate, that menu isn't ours! Please talk to the owner, you just can't put a pure lie in the net. We are really upset about this. If you are really a man call the owner and talk to him.

Hey brother please look carefully before you make your comment. The ham and eggs is my blog logo picture. It's not the Syed Abu menu. Please check carefully before you accuse someone. Btw, the food wasn't tht good.

For someone who didn't even clearly verify the picture n make blind accusations. Yet u ask the editor to contact the owner, w/o even offering to clarify on the
logo. U disgust me & I won't even recommend syed abu restaurant to anyone. U better feel sorry right now as u r making them lose business.
