The recently-opened Jaya Palace Restaurant in Sect.51A is located right in the middle of industrial and office buildings. Basically, the restaurant is just along the Federal Highway and patrons can easily spot the restaurant just a few blocks away from Menara Axis. Menara LYL where it is located is not fully tenanted and it's not hard to miss the restaurant on the Ground Floor.

The décor is modern with a touch of Oriental splendor. The restaurant has a nice environment and tables are spaced out at a nice distance. They use timber as the main theme as panel walls give the place a very warm contemporary appearance and the pillars are covered with wooden shelves that displayed Chinese teapots and vases.

In conjunction of Chinese New Year, Jaya Palace has devised a set menu specially for CNY.

Dish 1: Salmon “Lou Yee Sang”, Well, it is a sort of a Chinese-style raw fish salad. It consists of raw fish (usually salmon), plus shredded vegetables, crackers and sweet sauce & oil. Yee sang sounds a bit like Yúshēng (余升) meaning an increase in abundance, so yee sang is a symbol of prosperity. The presentation is nice by using a wooden plate and taste wise is nice.

Dish 2: Shark Fin Soup, is a delicacy that has been a popular item of Chinese cuisine since the Ming Dynasty, usually served at special occasions such as weddings and banquets. As a luxury item, the dish is also considered a symbol of wealth and prestige in Chinese culture. So, the soup is great and the shark fin is very meaty and chewy.

Dish 3: Roast Piglet (Half) and Thai-Style Chicken Salad, the piglet is nicely done and meats are tender and crunchy & crispy….yum yum. As for the Thai-Style Chicken Salad, it’s a refreshing dish and a very nice combination.

Dish 4: Deep Fried Prawns with Oyster Sauce, a dish that is just so so only, furthermore it’s a bit dry and the sauce didn’t taste quite well.
P1020361
Dish 5: Cod Fish steams with salted vegetable, thumbs up for the fish because it’s very fresh & tender and by using salted vegetable, it helps to enhance the freshness of the fish….excellent…

Dish 6: Vegetable (sautéed together with oysters, mushroom, bitter gourd wrapped around scallop, kai lan and “Fat Choy”. The dish is tangy and the chef done a good job in the creativity department.
P1020363
Dish 7: Glutinous rice with wax meat, is a type of short-grained Asian rice that is especially sticky when cooked. It is called glutinous in the sense of being glue-like or sticky and not in the sense of containing gluten. It is simply delicious. The rice is very aroma and wax meat is flavorful……tasty…

Dish 8: Sea Coconut with Longan, tastes like ice-lemon tea. Nice and refreshing.
P1020381
Dish 9: Nian Gao covered with Coconut and Deep Fried Sesame Ball, Nian gao a.k.a Rice cake, or Chinese New Year’s cake is a food prepared from glutinous rice and consumed during CNY. It is considered good luck to eat nian gao during this time because "nian gao" is a homonym for "every year higher and higher. So both “dim sums” are good & tangy and very much no complain at all…

Mainly food is great, however, due to the fact that it is a CNY dinner, they were short of staff and also overcrowded.
