So the history of TCK 1920 Hakkakaya, was inspired by their beloved father TCK, born in 1920. TCK’s legacy of preparing old fashioned, unique and traditional breakfast toast with mum’s secret hakkakaya recipe has been the hallmark of the family’s daily morning reunion. TCK’s sons Stan and Pete, also into the F&B industry has taken a journey back to their childhood days through their 20 years plus residence at Old Pasar Road and has rediscover and resurrected old traditional pasar road- typically Malaysian cuisines and successfully developed the specialty toast range inspired by TCK and their mum’s homemade hakkakaya delights then finally strike a commercial venture in a casual & traditional styled dining concept experience incorporating and blending the family’s nostalgic signature menu with repertoire of yummy hakkakaya roti dishes, like the Hakkakaya Butter Toast, quite ok, crunchy but normal lar…

Then the Egg Foo Yoong, omelet fried with onion and garnish with spring onion. It’s just a normal dish but taste great actually.

The Spaghetti Bolognaise, top with minced beef and parmesan cheese. Basically the portion is just nice and they are quite generous with amount of meat. It’s nice and tangy….
P1030528
Pan fried Dory Fish and grilled lamb, comes with fries and salad. The grilled lamb is okok only but the dory fish is surprising tasty. Other than that, an average dish...
P1030531
Then the Kampung (Village) Fried Rice, Malaysian style fried rice and egg. This dish is nothing to brag about, the fried rice is very normal, actually a little bland.
P1030645
Seafood Tom Yam comes with steam white rice, the soup is aroma and spicy. So so saja…..(Normal normal lar…)

The Old Pasar Road Nasi Lemak Istimewa (Special), the coconut rice is fragrance and serves with peanuts & anchovies. The sambal is quite oily, spicy and way average only. Then the salad is ok. They serve Rendang chicken garnish with chili and fried onion. Chicken is soft and tender; taste below average….it’s just not that special…
P1030650
The Lemongrass Grill Chicken, chicken is marinated with aroma of lime and lemongrass then grilled and serves with turmeric (kunyit) rice. The meat is juicy and tender. Overall the dish is good….

Lastly, the marinated and roasted ½ chicken comes with a sausage, vegetable, mashed potatoes and spaghetti. For sure, the price is cheap (RM17.90), no doubt patrons will enjoy it. For the meat, it’s juicy for sure but no quite there yet (taste wise), still average only….

Overall, the ambience of the cafe is quite nice and the price of the food is competitive. Other than that, the cafe is just another average cafe which serves average food. You come here if you would like to press-press on the wireless call system, otherwise your money is better spent elsewhere.
