Little Taiwan @ 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya

Taiwanese cuisine itself is often associated with influences from the middle to the Southern provinces of China, the most notable being the province of Fujian (Hokkien). In 1949, when New China was established many cooks from its different provinces went over to Taiwan. This explains why many Taiwanese cooking which bear the influences from all over China can easily be found. Besides this, a notable Japanese influence also existed when Taiwan was under the Japanese rule. Today, Taiwanese food in principle is a combination of flavors of its own as well as those influenced by the Chinese and the Japanese.

For this particular Taiwanese restaurant located at the lower ground of new wing, called the “Little Taiwan”, they serve halal Taiwanese cuisine based on the Malaysia Multi racial society that reformulating the original Taiwanese cuisine accordingly.

Let’s talk about the drinks first, clockwise from the picture below, Rose Tea (quite ok actually but somehow the quality of the rose is quite bad because it dissolve into the hot water quite fast), Jasmine Honey Tea (oklar, not too bad), Ying Yong Pearl Milk (yet, it’s not bad nor good, but ok ok saja), Hot Old Ginger Milk Tea (good), Crystal Magic Coffee (wonder why they called it a magic coffee, doesn’t taste nice and weird) and then Honeydew Milk Tea with Pearl (nice).

For starters, the Taiwanese Special Chicken Sausages, taste wise……hhmmm…. a bit weird and texture wise is not very crunchy…must say that this dish is not very nice.

Then Pan Fried Chicken Dumplings, hot and crispy, fresh out from the pan wok. And taste wise is so so saja…
P1000103
Braised Beef Noodle, is pretty a nice dish and the soup is nice and sweet. Good for patrons that love soupy stuff. Meat texture is also tender….
P1000098
Braised Beef Meat Ball Noodle, serve 2 huge beef meatball, a well known dish from Taiwan and it’s tangy, both meat and the soup..okoklar
P1000102
“Tang Tang” Noodle, the name of the dish suggesting that the noodle is very bouncy…. Apparently, they are just half right only, noodle is freshly made but not that bouncy..

Point to note, this restaurant is named after Little Taiwan, is it because it's really serving purely original Taiwan food? Suggesting that the food served was nothing special about it and only see “Little” connection Taiwan cuisine. Mostly, taste wise falls under average.
