First of all, sorry to all the food readers that this blog has not been active for the last couple of months due to some family matters to attend to. Hope to continue to hunt down more food and review it.

In this post, there is a Halal kopitiam located at Aman Suria Damansara, offers the usual Malaysian Cuisine such as Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng (fried noodle) and etc. This outlet is called Petaling Street Kopitiam. The ambiance of this kopitiam is cozy. Decor wise is warm and consists of Malaysian Kopitiam culture.

As for This dish below, many people said that their Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah (Spicy Fried Chicken) is recommended. The chicken is freshly prepare everyday and well marinated with herbs and spicy for hours before putting into fryer. Thier Nasi Lemak is tasty with the rempah pulp. The rempah pulp is formed by the excessive spices during frying process. It's packed with flavor.

Fun Taipei Tea Café @ SS2, Petaling Jaya

Sunday, January 3, 2010

There is another chain restaurant opened in SS2 around 6-7months ago. It located opposite McDonald, same row as Pelita Nasi Kandar. The restaurant is called Fun Taipei Tea Café and this eatery is specialized in Taiwanese cuisine. Their first outlet located at Pudu and a few others branches.

Based on the restaurant name, you should know that this café is also specialized with Taiwanese drinks. Bubble tea with pearl. Bubble tea is a tea beverage typically served cold. It originated in Taiwan in the 1980s, first spread to nearby East Asian countries, migrated to Canada before spreading to Chinatown in New York City, and then to various spots throughout the West Coast of the United States. There are many variants of the drink, depending on types of tea used and ingredients added. In the most common English usage, the name "bubble tea" is often associated with pearl milk tea, as it is the most popular variant of the drink. Pearl milk tea, also known as "boba milk tea", is traditionally made by adding boba balls (made from a mixture of tapioca and carrageenan powder), large or small, to shaken milk black tea. Some tea houses use pre-mixed milk tea to simplify the steps and reduce cost, thus removing the "shake" part from step and lessening its connection to the "bubble tea" name. here they have many types such as lemon, passion fruit, red plum, mango, honeydew, honey peach and many many more….

First of all, this is the Fried Salty Chicken. It’s quite nice actually. It’s crispy and tasty. They have garnish with some powder on top of it.

Looking at their menu, they offer a variety of set menus for easy ordering. According to the waitress, she highly recommended to take Fried pork chop with noodle set or braised pork chop noodle/rice set. The pork chop itself is very good. Delicious and crunchy. If you order the braised pork chop, it serve with sauce. Still, it’s good but not as good as the dry version. Then, comparing with their rice and noodle set, the rice (normal steam rice) garnished with minced pork which is good. The noodle set also served with minced pork but the noodle is quite tasty as it’s got the bouncy bites. Yum yum….. each set comes with soup (high with MSG), vegetables, braised tofu and braised egg or fried egg with sweet & sour chilies sauce.

Overall, this restaurant’s interior was decorated with posters on the wall. A lot of IKEA's stuff were used - lightings & chairs. And a book shelf filled with comic books. It’s a nice place for bubble teas and patrons that love reading comics while waiting for their food.
