This is the second review on this restaurant and this particular post is about their set menu. As mentioned before, Jaya Palace Restaurant located in Sect.51A just right in the middle of industrial and office buildings. Basically, the restaurant is just along the Federal Highway and patrons can easily spot the restaurant just a few blocks away from Menara Axis. Menara LYL where it is located is not fully tenanted and it's not hard to miss the restaurant on the Ground Floor
Straight to the set menu, their chef designs a couple of sets menu specially for patrons who are really enjoy fine Chinese Cuisine. For this particular set, Dish 1 is Pan Fried Scallop & Stuffed Beancurd. The scallop is wrap with fresh fish paste and pan fried, giving a nice bouncy texture and quite fragrance. As for the stuffed beancurd (something like yong tau foo), it stuffed with fish paste, quite nice but required sweet sauce to accompany with it.
Dish 2: Double Boiled Superior Sharkfins in Claypot. What to say about this….it’s fantastic, the taste is very nice and the soup is marvelous with A grade sharkfins with a Chinese mushroom. (Perfect!)
Dish 3: Deep Fried Crispy Hong Kong Pigeon. Some patrons may like pigeon, and some may not like it due to the fact that it is a pigeon (Peace). Anyway, it tastes like duck meat with softer texture. The pigeon is perfectly fried and accompany with sweet plum sauce, it is very tangy. Yummy
Dish 4: Home Style Stuffed Sea Cucumber. The sea cucumber [also called Holothuroidea are a class of marine animals (phylum Echinodermata) with an elongated body and leathery skin, which is found on the sea floor worldwide. Many holothurian species and genera, informally known as sea cucumbers, are targeted for human consumption] is stuffed inside with fish and meat paste and then braised form sometime. The texture is nice and bouncy bite.
Dish 5: Palace Roasted Pork with Rice & Egg. Roasted pork here is the best, lean and fatty pork meat [with perfect proportion, ration of 2(Lean):1(Fat)] specially chooses by the chef, and perfectly roasted till skin is crispy and golden color. Then accompany with steamed rice and half cook fried egg (with yolk flowing out) and garnished with spring onions and pork lard oil to pour onto the rice. Making this a nice dish…..thumbs up….and of course, very fattening..
Dish 6: Mango Sago with Ice Cream. This dessert is very nice, with mini bite size mango and strawberry to accompany with the mango sago. It’s so tasty….heaven…
No doubt this set menu is very nice and urges other patrons to try it.
