Old Town Kopitiam @ Jaya One, Petaling Jaya

Nowadays, Old Town Kopitiam is everywhere, from their first outlet to current 105th store; they claimed they are the earliest to bring that legendary cup of white coffee from 1958 out of Ipoh to people all over Malaysia. Serving nothing less than the best.

The branch in Jaya One, it gives that unmistakable air of warmth and camaraderie. Furthermore, the environment and ambience is excellent, clean and tidy. Food ordering process is something similar like the HK “Char Chan Teng”. Patrons have to take a pencil and tick on a list of paper menu.

First of all, the “Xi Mut” (Stoking) Milk Tea is quite a nice drink. The milk tea is smooth and just the right amount of condense milk that makes this the perfect drink for patrons.

The Old Town Nasi Lemak Special is their specialty dish and believes almost every patron comes here for that. The sambal is great, the rice is alright and the chicken is deep fried and very crispy. Portion is small.

As for the Old Town Nasi Rendang Chicken, is almost the same as the Old Town Nasi Lemak Special. Instead of fried chicken, they replace with a piece of Rendang Chicken (It’s nice but portion wise is small).

Next the Old Town Curry Kuey Teow, the curry is thick yet smooth. You could taste its herbs and spices fragrance as well as the coconut milk taste.

Old Town Kopitiam also serves a good Omega Soft Boiled Eggs and a Kaya & Butter Toast for patrons who love to have it during breakfast. The toast is really crunchy. But the butter isn’t oozing out from the toast as shown in the menu.


As many patrons said, the quality of the food is just nice, and the price is reasonable. That’s why they have so many outlets around Malaysia.
