Tappers Café @ Jaya One, Petaling Jaya
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
Tappers Café is located in the Jaya One along the Jalan University. Tappers offers a simple, yet classic colonial snack dishes such as Chicken Pie, Heinz Baked Beans and etc. Furthermore, the menu is simple with variety of choices. They have Banger and Mash, Nasi Rendang Kambing (Rendang style lamb with rice), Hainanese Fried Mee, Western breakfasts, and many more.
The café sets in modern comfortable surroundings it which has a relaxed feel about it. Interior is nice with white color as their main theme and provide a soothing atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their food & drinks while listening to some relaxing sentimental music.
The Tappers recommended dish is the Tappers Chicken Chop. Its northern Hainanese-style chicken chops served with potatoes, peas and toast. The chef uses the egg to wrap and pan-fried it. It smells very good with crispy outer layer but taste wise is bit bland, after a few mouthfuls, you would require chili sauce to add the taste. Moreover, they should name this dish the Tappers Chicken Breast because patron will realize that chicken breast is being used rather than the usual chicken drumstick (quite disappointed).
The Teh Ping is alright though.
In conclusion, it’s quite a nice place to have “Yam Cha” session with friends and family and in additional, many patrons will find that the pricy is quite reasonable.

Tappers cafe's service is extremely BAD!!! We have waited for more than 45mins for the meal and it never came and we kept on reminded the waitress to attend to our order but all she did is "Wait"…"Wait". All that we had then were the drinks which we completely finish within the waiting time (without meal). That was beside the point, the waitress told us that one of the meal is no longer available after 30mins and most of the customers who came in later got their meal even the table next to us got their meal less than 10mins. I emphasized to the waitress that we have been waiting for 30mins...40mins and by the 45mins (1:07pm to 1:52pm) we said we wanted to see the boss (by the way, there is a receipt printed with the time). Guess what the absurb boss just did, he waved away sulkily at us and the waitress told us needless to pay for the drinks without a word from the boss. The least that he could do is to apologize for the delay in the 1st place and asked if we would prefer to come another time. One advise, Never Visit Tappers cafe at JayaOne!
