Hong Kee Tim Sum Restaurant @ Section 19, Petaling Jaya

Hong Kee is a newly chain Dim Sum restaurant in Klang Valley. As at todate, they have 5 branches already and their newest branch is at Section 19 in Petaling Jaya (located next to Rothman Roundabout). They occupied the corner shoplot which is quite big and you can’t miss the signboard as their signboard is bright orange in color.

If you go for Dim Sum meal, you must order the “Siew Mai”, it is an essential dish in a Dim Sum meal. For their “Siew Mai”, it is quite nice. They have mixed prawns with pork meat, giving it the more crunchy texture to it.

Next, the “sui gao”/dumpling type dim sum. If you look at the picture below, actually they have oversteamed the dumpling which makes the skin too dry and the texture of the meat quite hard….not good at all…..

Then the Prawn dumpling aka “Har Gau”, in fact the skin is too thick and taste wise, it is normal. Luckily, the prawn is just fresh enough for this dish.

Sweet Beancurd Roll, basically the pork filling is wrapped with beancurd sheet and steamed with sweet sauce. It’s sweet and the taste is just so so saja (average)….

As for the Chee Cheong Fun, this dish is quite ordinary and taste more than ordinary too. The Chee Cheong Fun is smooth, but the skin is thick and the prawn is not fresh. Moreover, the chili is not spicy and quite normal.

The Deep Fried Dumpling Prawn would have taste better if the skin wasn’t soaking with oil. And the skin is not crispy and yet again, the prawn is not fresh….haaii….

Pan Fried Radish Cake, nicely done and not oily. Patrons will sure enjoy it.

Basically, many bloggers said that their branch in Damansara Jaya is very nice (so would like to review it soon), however, the food quality here is nothing to shout about, service is average as some of the workers are foreign.
