Pappa Rich Kopitiam @ 3 Two Square, Petaling Jaya

PappaRich Kopitiam is another kopitiam chain, mushroom around Klang Valley for the last couple of years. This average kopitiam simply serve coffee and Asian delicacies at a slightly pricey. However, their staff is quite friendly and with smiles. The décor of the kopitiam focused on using timber as their main theme and restaurant ambience is cozy and homey.
Proceed to the food assessment, firstly, the drinks. Soya Milk with Gula Melaka (quite nice actually as the sweetness of the drink enhanced nicely by the Gula Melaka), Teh Ice (frothy, creamy and not too sweet) and Teh Tarik (normal).
Then the Half Boiled Eggs, no comment here….
Next, the Pappa Curry Laksa Special with Foo Chok, presentation wise needs to be improved. The dish filled with very lemak Foo Chok and garnished with a sprig of mint leaves. But the curry is quite aroma and nice….
The Pappa Chicken Chop, comes with fried rice, fried egg and slices of cucumbers. Firstly, the chicken chop is nicely deep fried and cover with gravy but it’s quite an ordinary chicken chop and don’t find it what so special about it. And the fried rice is a little bit bland. Generally, this dish is not recommended.
Ipoh Prawn Chicken Koay Teow Soup, nothing much to comment this dish as it’s just a very normal dish where you can find it anywhere.
Follow up with the Pappa Char Kuey Teow. Basically Pappa Rich's version is not bad; but it is nowhere near the versions served at the stalls. Maybe it’s lack of the wok taste. The char kuey teow comes with cockles, bean sprouts and large prawns and is served on a plate lined with banana leaf. The banana leaf does impart a nice fragrance to the noodles.
Then the Pappa Nasi Lemak. The fluffy steamed rice scented with pandan leaves and coconut milk is appetizing and serves with a piece of rendang chicken. The rendang gravy is nice and aroma and a nice accompaniment to the rice. However, the chicken is overcooked.
Side order, the Pandan Chicken, and again the dish is quite simple, wrapped the chicken with pandan leaves and deep fried it. Nothing to shout about it…normal…..
Another side order is the Chicken, and again and again, average dish. Patrons can find somewhere else for much better one.
Lastly, the Pappa Cendol. The strips of green cendol were smooth and fragrant with pandan. The finely shaved ice drizzled with fresh coconut milk and thick gula melaka is refreshing. This one is very nice and you should try it.
Overall, having a ambience and realistically decorated surroundings will make patrons trip to PappaRich Kopitiam a pleasure one where patrons can enjoy food and beverages at a calming environment.
