Mirchi – Taste of India Restaurant @ Damansara Utama (Uptown), Petaling Jaya
Friday, March 20, 2009
Mirchi (mir-chi meaning hot peppers) and this restaurant is located at Uptown and it is a fine dining Indian restaurant, featuring traditional northern Indian dishes. In the sleek tribal art setting, experience truly refined Indian food of today from diverse regions. The menu remains true to classic Indian recipes, but also reflects the food trends in today’s India. They do serve Indian Chinese dishes. The Indo-Chinese cuisine is a blend of Chinese wok (Kadai) cooking and traditional Indian spices, resulting in more flavorful and tastier dishes (till next time…).
Mirchi is a vibrant modern establishment definitely at the forefront of Indian cuisine. The setting is quite heavily influence by northern Indian culture, the service is good as the staff is friendly.
To the food subject, patrons should try the Lassi, is a popular and traditional South Asian drink originating from North India. It is made by blending yoghurt with water, salt, pepper, ice and spices until frothy. Traditional lassi is sometimes flavored with ground roasted cumin. Lassi is also available as sweet with sugar. They also offer Mango Lassi….quite unique but prefer the original lassi taste.
As starter, the Aloo Paratha, is a flatbread that originated in the subcontinent (South Asia). It is made with whole-wheat flour, pan fried in ghee or cooking oil. Dip in with the sauce, actually is ok…
Special Tandoori Sizzling Platter, comes with Fishtikka, Tandoor Chicken, Murgh Badami Tikka, Chicken Tikka serve on a sizzling hot platter. Enough to feed for 3-4 pax…
Chicken Dahiwala, chicken marinated in curd and cooked with ground spices rich & thick gravy…. The gravy should eat with naan and it’s good and flavorful…
Kumbli Broccoli Delite, broccoli and mushroom cooked with kadai masala & cashew nut. The dish is oklar and spicy too.
A little bit history of Naan, it is a round flatbread made of white flour. It is a staple accompaniment to hot meals in Central and South Asia, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran, Northern India, Uzbekistan and the surrounding region. So in Mirchi, they offer many types of Naan, and one of it is the Pudina Naan, it is a light flaky Indian wheat bread with a touch of fresh mint, so so actually….
Besides that, there is Garlic Naan, which obviously stuffed with chopped garlic……hhmmmm just normal….of course if you eat naan with curry gravy and meat …
For your information, they do delivery too and it’s free!
