Kay’s Garden Café & Restaurant @ The Waterfront, Desa Parkcity, Kuala Lumpur
Saturday, April 25, 2009
Kay’s Garden is actually more than just a café, it has an interesting décor, a fusion of westernize and Asian elements. It's got a simple yet nice, exotic look and exudes a calm ambiance. The café is got a very nice lake view, and this café is located in a new area, the Desa Parkcity in The Waterfront shopping complex.
For your information, this café is newly opened for just about a couple of months and actually their official grand opening date is this coming 8th May 2009.
To the food tasting, referring to the picture below (in clockwise), there are Ice Lemon Honey (coolly), Ice Chocolate (using pure coco, bitter..), Mango Indulgence (refreshing and nice), a glass of water and Strawberry tea (interesting drink).
Next, the Spicy Seafood Pasta, the taste is abit bland and lack of salt, maybe…. Still, the dish is passable…
Then the Black Pepper Sautéed Chicken with Fried Rice, the chicken is tender and generous amount of gravy to go along with the fried rice (if not because of the gravy, the fried rice is abit dry and bland).
Sweet and Sour Chicken Rice, the chicken is fried and cooked with sugar, pineapple, onions, cucumber and tomatoes which gives a nice crispy texture. Fried rice is still the same, plain and dry…..
Grilled Lamb – Option A – with Mint Sauce (nice sauce actually), the lamb is quite tender and juicy serves with corn, fries, vegetable and broccoli.
Option B – with Mushroom Sauce, the sauce is so so saja and nothing to praise about it.
Seafood Fried Noodle (Udon), the noodle is fried with soya sauce comes with prawns, squids, clams and fish. No doubt it’s a nice dish.
Pepperoni Pizza, round bread that covered with tomatoes or a tomato-based sauce, topped with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. This is actually tasty and yummy.
Tom Yam Seafood Meehoon, the Tom Yam soup is kinda average only. With the basic seafood ingredients, it’s not bad and not a good dish.
Next, the Nyonya Fried Rice with Fried Chicken Wing, Nyonya food was developed by the Peranakan people of Malaysia and Singapore. It uses mainly Chinese ingredients but blends them with South-East Asian spices such as coconut milk, lemon grass, turmeric, screwpine leaves, chillies and sambal. It can be considered as a blend of Chinese and Malay cooking. So their fried rice is a blend of Chinese and Malay style, that is spicy and aroma…..tangy…..
Teriyaki Chicken, the chef using the cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which the chicken is broiled or grilled in a sweet soy sauce marinade. Cover with sesame seeds, the chicken is sweet and tangy. The dish is also serves with mashed potato and vegetable.
Lastly, the Chicken Pita, is a popular Greek fast food consisting of small pieces of meat and sometimes vegetables grilled on a skewer. It may be served on the skewer for eating out of hand, in a pita sandwich with garnishes and sauces. In this case, their chicken is deep fried and covers with lettuce and veges then garnished with mayo. Overall, this pita is good.
