Old Asia Café @ 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya
Saturday, April 18, 2009
Old Asia Café is located in 1 Utama, many patrons see it as one of those “you know lar” normal average café that offers Malaysian and western cuisines. Actually, this café has just renovated about a month ago and they set themselves some goals to bring the best cuisines to diners. And their well-skilled chefs prepare the best authentic dishes using the freshest ingredients and aromatic spices. So the verdicts are…..
No.1: Deep Fried Salt and Pepper Squid, it’s hot and crispy. By dipping with the sweet chili sauce, it is very scrumptious for side order.
No. 2: Dried Chicken Curry with Steamed Rice, this is their chef’s specialty dish, by blending old Asia’s secret recipe, spices, lemon grass and coconut milk which is delicious in fact and make patrons wanting more. The Chicken cooked in a thick curry and served fried omelet, vegetable and a couple of prawn crackers. It’s an all time best seller to them and worth trying…..
No. 3: Cantonese Kuey Teow, the chef cooked this thick white sauce together with chicken, squid, prawn and Kuey Teow. Taste wise is alright and gravy is actually good but the portion is abit small.
No. 4: ABC, it is also popularly known as air batu campur in Malay or ABC for short. The word "air batu", literally meaning "stone water" means ice and "campur" means mixed. Ais kacang or ice kacang is a dessert served in Malaysia and Singapore. It is sweet-tasting and is primarily ice served with sweet flavored syrup and jelly. So their ABC is refreshing and nice with red beans, sweet corn, grass jelly, cubes of agar agar and cendol.
No. 5: Soya Bean………..nothing much to explain about it….and normal…that’s all…
So the verdict, this café is newly renovated and ambiance is cozy and comfy. Food wise, some are good and some are bad, and for this normal café, their pricing is at the high side.
