Kokopelli Travellers Bistro @ Section 14, Petaling Jaya
Wednesday, April 1, 2009
This bistro is located in Section 14 and the owner, Ariff Awaluddin (a local artist) liked the name Kokopelli and decided it was the best name to use for his business. For your information, Kokopelli is a fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player (often with a huge phallus and feathers or antenna-like protrusions on his head), who has been venerated by some Native American cultures in the Southwestern United States. With the glass facade fronted the old bungalow. White tablecloths and green runners give the room a very airy and fresh feel with warm lights greeting the guests. Small touches such as tealight candles, gorgeous tiny lampshades, glass beads and fresh daisies completed the décor which made the place look cozy and inviting.
Kokopelli Travellers Bistro is open six days a week for lunch and dinner. The main dining area inside seats thirty six people with additional private dining room seats 10-12. They also have outdoor dining which seats thirty.
First of all, the drinks………………….. on the left, it’s the iced chocolate with whipped cream (chocolaty taste, creamy…oklar), in the middle, the Orangeade (an orange soft drink with orange slice, nice and refreshing) and on the right, the Lemonade (mmm….lemon flavored drink, it’s nice actually).
Then the Tomato Soup, the soup is homemade from the freshness of tomato. It’s creamy and sourly taste. Quite oklar…………..
And Garlic Bread, crunchy and it’s just a very very normal dish……………….
The Roast Chicken serves with Ratatouille, mashed potatoes and topped with Mushroom Sauce. The chicken is very yummy, texture is tender. Their ratatouille is also good (a must try side dish).
Next, the Chicken Chop, serves with fries, coleslaw and topped with Kokopelli Black Pepper Sauce. This dish is just an average dish but eat it with their homemade gravy, it helps to make it more palatable………..yum yum yum……
Pasta Carbonara cooked with Beef Bacon and Turkey Ham. Portion wise is generous and they also provide a generous amount of bacon and ham (look at the picture below!!). Garnish with Parmesan Cheese, it is tasty but nothing outstanding….
Lastly, the Classic Kokopelli Club Burger, the chef chooses 100% beef patty, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions & cheese to make a classical club burger and then side dishes are fries and coleslaw. The burger itself is very tangy and juicy….MMmmMMmm……
Overall, the bistro is lovely, cozy & welcoming ambience will definitely worth for a second visit. However.........., although the service (staff is friendly) is good but they are quite slow in “attending” the customers to their seats and orders. You would have to wait and look around for the waiters, which is bad for business….

Hi. their Lamb shanks is one of my favourites and the meat gets sooooo tender. :-)
i like to come here sometime.
this is my father's bistro please come the food is great
Went there for dinner. Waiter messed up the orders and had to wait for more than an hour for the meal!! Worst part the boss didnt even offer an apology and rude. Scolded us instead for not being fair to his ‘Form 5′ waiters!!! WTF??!! He just picked up the meal that was late and brought it back to the kitchen.. My poor friend not only had to wait for her meal but ended up going home hungry!! P/S food was not great as well and gravy all tasted the same no matter what u ordered
The co-owner recently sort of reprimanded me for asking whether their meats and cheese are halal. Being an observant Muslim, I need to know. She also told me that she didn really approve of people using their ipad and iphones in a estaurant, but perhaps thats the only time they have as they ar so busy with housework, work, etc at other times.
Even when I first went to the restaurant, it was less han welcoming. I and the two others sat at a table but the owner told us o move and is somewhere else. On another occasion, when I asked for the beef bacon to be separate from the Caesars salad, the owner said they didn't do that cos presentation was very important to them, obviously more important than the customer! They treat us as if we havent eaten in upmarket eateries.
Even in Dome, Italiannies, TGIF and hotel restaurants, I would ask whether their meats are halal, and I NEVER get asked to change my table or not to get whet want. The owner of Kokopelli treats us as if we're some country bumpkins from the boondogs even though we ar residents of 'affluent' PJ!

Service 4/10
The food was great but the services was quite bad and unpleasant. I find the waitress who served us is rude which answered us impolitely when we gave comments about the food. Please improve your service.
