Kluang Station @ 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya
Sunday, December 21, 2008
If you've been to 1 Utama you must have come across Kluang Station in the new wing. It's located on the Lower Ground Floor at the Oval court, 1 Utama new wing (opposite Bread Story). It's one of those kopitiam places where they serve all the Malaysian food at higher prices and seems like a trend these days now of high end kopitiams (coffee shop) mushrooming over in the Klang Valley right after the heels of Hong Kong style cafes.
Kluang Station is not exactly is basically just another kopitiam but a little bit different from the others is that its interior design concept is based on an old-school train station, serving the same food like Uncle Lim, back in Kluang Hometown Kopitiam.
The traditional and wholemeal buns as well as half boiled eggs are quite ok. Bread is toasted crunchy and the melting-effect made patrons wanting to order more. They also serve Barley drink.
However, their Hainanese Minced Chicken & Wings is…somehow bad in a way. First, the chicken wings are fried too long (so long that they serve the wings in black). Second, minced meat is bland and it is supposed to taste gingery. Without the gingery taste, you can’t consider it as a Hainanese dish.
Basically, food here is just average and refer to many other blogs, their hainanese dishes are not recommended.
