Teow Chew Porridge Restaurant @ SS2, Petaling Jaya (Close Down)

Teow Chew Porridge is grainier and thicker in consistency than its watery Cantonese cousin.
The Teow Chew porridge at Teow Chew Porridge Restaurant in SS2, PJ is not outstanding, but it certainly isn’t bad. There is a limited selection of meats, normally braised or cooked in soy sauce, but the fact that there is a whole section dedicated to different types of vegetable dishes.
The consistency of the porridge was just right. Teow Chew porridge is normally a little watery and the grains are recognizable and not completely mush up. Eaten alone, it is certainly bland, which is why the various dishes, salted and spiced, are perfect complements to the porridge.
Other Teow Chew classics include pork-belly (oklar) or Sweet and Sour Pork (not bad) or golden omelettes filled with a choice of Chinese sausages, anchovies or oysters. Steamed fish is served with a concoction of heady Chinese wine, sour assam, salted beans and baby tomatoes and topped with spring onion and coriander.
Point to note, the place is not very clean (saw a baby cockroach on the table) and pricy wise is high compare to the others.

Expensive... but got all my fav dishes
The dishes are really expensive. It is no big deal really as it is similar to any other shop which sells porridge. If you eat rice, they give you a reasonable bowl of soup but when you are eating porridge and you request for shop, you will be given a small bowl of soup. Very calculative shop. Will not visit here again as I can have it in some other shop. Someone pls convey this to the shop!
